Midjourney is a powerful AI tool that generates stunning images from text prompts. While you can use Midjourney on their website Midjourney.com, many users prefer Midjourney on Discord for its collaborative and interactive features. This chapter will guide you through how to use Midjourney on Discord, including creating your own server, inviting the Midjourney Bot, and writing prompts.
Creating Your Own Discord Server
- If you don’t already have a Discord account, sign up at Discord.com
- Click the + button on the left sidebar in Discord to create a new server.
- Choose Create My Own and select a template (e.g., For Me and My Friends).
- Name your server and customize it as needed. Click Create to finish.
- Your new server will appear in the sidebar (in the example below, I created the server My Midjourney).
Inviting the Midjourney Bot
- Step 1: Go to the official Midjourney Discord server by clicking this link: Midjourney Discord.
- Step 2: In the official Midjourney Discord server, locate the Midjourney Bot in the member list on the right sidebar.
- Step 3: Click the bot’s name and select + Add App.
- Step 4: Next, choose Add to Server.
- Step 5: Choose your server from the dropdown menu. The Midjourney Bot will now be available in your server.
Writing Your First Midjourney Prompt on Discord
- Step 1: Type
/imagine
in the chat and press Space. This will activate the prompt input box. - Step 2: Enter your text prompt after
/imagine
. For example:A magical forest with glowing mushrooms and a misty atmosphere.
- Setp 3: Press Enter to submit your prompt. The Midjourney Bot will start generating images.
Understanding the Results
- After submitting your prompt on Discord, the Midjourney bot will generate a grid of four images.
- Below the grid, you’ll see buttons labeled U1, U2, U3, U4 (for upscaling individual images) and V1, V2, V3, V4 (for creating variations of an image).
- Click the corresponding button to refine your results: Upscale (U) enhances the resolution of a specific image. Variations (V) generates new versions of a selected image.
Tips for Using Midjourney on Discord
- Be Descriptive: The more details in your prompt, the better the results.
- Experiment: Try different prompts and Midjourney parameters to see what works best.
- Use Direct Messages: To avoid cluttering your server, you can message the Midjourney Bot directly for private generations.
